What is Camporee? Camporee is an outdoor activity program designed to allow Scouts to compete in a fun atmosphere in a variety of Scout Skills. The purpose of this outdoor experience is to create an opportunity for all Scouts (Boys & Girls) to demonstrate their scout skills and knowledge, and through a fun-filled series of events to give them a chance to compete with other patrols from other troops in a variety of scout skills. Probably nothing in the scouting program appeals to boys and girls more than the opportunity for adventure in the great outdoors.
What will they do? We will have a wide range of fun, yet challenging activities for the Scouts to compete in including some or all of the following:
- Go-Kart Lashing Event
- BSA Knowledge & Trivia Game
- Fire Building
- Knots Competition
- Campsite Set-up & Tent Building Competition
- “Iron Chef” Cooking Competition
- Teamwork Event
- First Aid Competition
- Optional Activities available
Who can attend? All Scouts BSA members are invited to participate. Not every parent need attend, although they should plan on driving to and from the event as a best practice.
Just a day activity? This year, due to the current COVID-19 related restriction on group camping, Camporee will be a daytime only activity, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm on April 24th.
What’s the goal? The goal of this event if two-fold. First, BSA Troops from the Golden West District will be demonstrating by hosting an event some of the critical scout skills that BSA teaches. Additionally, the boys and girls will get a chance to work as a team, think creatively and demonstrate in practice what they have been learning during their Scouting journey.
COVID-19 Concerns? COVID-19 is forefront on our minds. While there is no way to completely eliminate all risk, we will take every health and safety precaution we can as recommended by the CDC, State of California, Orange County and Scouts BSA. Temperature checks, symptom screening, staggered arrival times, social distancing, mandatory face coverings at all times, and rigorous hand hygiene will be adhered to all day.
What is the cost? The cost per person is $20. This fee applies individually to both scouts and adults. We are making every effort to keep the cost as low as possible while ensuring a safe, fun, and memorable event.
How do I sign up? ALL REGISTRATIONS WILL BE PERFORMED INSIDE OF THE SCOUTING EVENT WEBSITE
What about food? Because of COVID-19 restrictions, no shared food is permitted. As a result, all Scouts are encouraged to pack a sack lunch, snacks & drinks.
